Barkers Kitchen, Northallerton

Barkers in Northallerton is a family run business, trading from two sites – their town centre department store and a furniture store on the outskirts of town. The restaurant within the department store seats 180 customers and was in need of a rebrand and total refurbishment.

‘Barkers Kitchen’ now has a new identity and a complete overhaul of the layout. A new entrance was formed from the ladies fashion department, allowing for a ‘food hall’ style offer. This will help to alleviate queues at busy times.

The colour and finishes palette is influenced by nature and the beautiful surrounding countryside, including screens of real birch trees and full size murals. Different seating sections were created to accommodate a variety of seating styles - bespoke circular seating booths help to create cosy areas within the large space. The entrance to the restaurant also houses a new gift food area, promoting local companies, and adding a new retail element.

Barkers already had a fantastic reputation for their food, and with a new fresh look the popular restaurant has been elevated to another level.
